VERSE OF THE WEEK
You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. – Psalm 16:11
Joyful
A Wall Street Journal poll on joy found that belief in God was important to those who identified as “very happy,“ with more than half of those respondents describing themselves as very to moderately religious. How is your joy quotient this week? God has promised that, when you place your reliance on Him and you cast your anxieties on Him, He will sustain you and you will experience the fullness of joy, even in times of trouble. After the apostles were flogged and forbidden to speak in Jesus’ name by the religious leaders, “they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name” (Acts 5:41). Paul and Silas, despite being beaten and placed in stocks in Philippi, prayed and sang hymns to the Lord (Acts 16:25)! If you find yourself further down the “joy scale,“ check the closeness of your relationship with the Lord. When you draw near to Him, you can go on your way rejoicing in spite of circumstances.
